By Train

AFI Security Training Institute is approximately ¾ mile from the Metuchen RR station. You may walk, take a cab, or take the Jitney from the RR station to the stop at Durham and Hampton Avenues  (Monday – Friday only).

From Newark Penn Station: Take NE Corridor Line train southbound to Metuchen station. Stay in front half of train. Walk away from station (away from underpass)  towards Middlesex Ave / Rt 27; turn left.   Follow down about 4 blocks to Central Avenue and turn right.  Follow Central Ave one long block (approx 2/10 mile) to next intersection – Durham Avenue.  Turn left on Durham; 212 Durham is one block past the convenience store, on the right.

From North Jersey Coast Line: transfer in Rahway to NE Corridor Line southbound; get off in Metuchen.  See walking directions above

From South Edison, New Brunswick and points south on the NE Corridor Line: take train north to Metuchen station. Stay in back part of train. Walk under the underpass and continue to Middlesex Ave / Rt 27; turn left. See walking directions above.

By Car

From the New Jersey Turnpike
Take NJTP to exit 10; follow signs to Rt. 287. Take 287 to Exit 2 for Route 27 NORTH to Metuchen. (Exit bears right.)   Follow to first stoplight (Bridge Street) and turn left onto Bridge St.  Follow to the end (about 1/4 mile), make a right turn, then a quick left.  Follow to the end (about 1/4 mile), make a right turn onto Durham Ave.  212 Durham will be on your left.

From the Garden State Parkway
Take GSP SOUTH to exit 131 to Rt. 27/Metuchen. Follow Rt. 27 down approximately 3-1/4  miles to Central Avenue (you will pass Friendly’s restaurant, a funeral home, and apartments).  Turn right onto Central Avenue; follow 2/10 mile to next stoplight.  Turn left onto Durham Ave;  212 Durham is on the right, just past the convenience store.

Take Rt. 1 South past Menlo Park Mall to Rt. 531 North / Main Street towards Metuchen. . Follow approx. 3 miles into Metuchen. Pass under the RR tracks, and see below.

Take Rt. 1 North past BJ's Wholesale Club and Staples; pass the stoplight and take the turn to Rt. 531 North/ Main Street towards Metuchen. Follow approx. 3 miles into Metuchen. Pass under the RR tracks and see below.

Once you’ve passed under the RR track, turn left onto Middlesex Ave/Rt 27, follow approximately  1/4  mile to Central Avenue (you will pass Friendly’s restaurants, a funeral home, and apartments).    Turn right onto Central; follow 2/10 mile to next stoplight.  Turn left onto Durham Ave;  212 Durham is on the right, just past the convenience store.

From northern or western NJ

Take RT 287 South to exit 3 for Metuchen.  At the light, turn left onto New Durham Road.  Cross over the highway when you see the gas station at the fork in the road and bear left onto Durham Avenue.  Come down about ¾ of a mile; 212 Durham will be on your left.
